JOHN LEWIS COON There is mentioned that John Lewis Kuhn/Coon brought a slave with him to Mississippi from South Carolina. The name of the slave was "Old Ceasar" and he was set free in 1812. He bought land near the Coon family and grew quite rich. His land was known as "Old Ceasar Field" He is buried in the same cemetary as John Lewis Kuhn/Coon. John Lewis, his wife Mary, and children Lewis, Charles, David and Mary Ann Elizabeth, are all buried on east side of Buffalo Creek, about ten miles northeast of Woodville, Mississippi, about fifteen miles northwest of Centreville on the place where John Lewis settled when he moved to Wilkinson County. JASPER S M COON Jasper S. M. Coon served in the War of 1812 from Mississippi. His record shows that he was a private in Captain Randal Jone's Company of Infantry from the militia of Mississippi Territory commanded by Col. Ferdinand L. Claiborne. According to his service record he enlisted 19 September 1812 and served until about 18 or 19 March 1813. He was paid twice during this time. He was paid on 30 November 1812, $15.98. On 21 March 1813 he was paid $24.70. He actually served 3 months and 22 days. His pay per month was $6.66. He was discharged at Baton Rouge. MARGUERITE FRANCES MITCHELL Marguerite Frances Mitchell was born on 19 May 1913, daughter of William Lewis Mitchell and Maud Eleanor Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years; Dr. Henson Coon, son of Jacob Allen Coon and Henritta Henson. Mrs. Coon was a member of DAR. She was a past president for both the Ouachita Parish Medical Society Auxiliary and the Louisiana State Medical Society Auxiliary. Mrs. Coon was a member of the Monroe Garden Club and a past president of the African Violet Society. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church of Monroe for over 40 years and was currently a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

Headstone stated "Wife of D.D. Wood" Annie Tallulah Coon was the daughter of Albert Fenner Coon and Emily Ann Saulsbury. She married Douglas Wood in OUachita Parish May 2, 1884. They had four children: Florence, Robert, Leon and Harry Wood. The News-Star April 2, 1930 Page 8, Column 8 MRS. ANNIE WOOD PASSES AT SON'S RESIDENCE HERE Funeral Services to Be Held Tomorrow Morning Mrs. Annie Wood, aged 65, widow of the late D.D. Wood, died at 7:2[] a. m. today at the residence of her son, Dr. R. L. Wood, 1403 Park avenue. She had been ill for several months. Mrs. Wood was a life long resident of this parish and was highly respected by a wide circle of friends. For the past seven years she had resided with her son, Dr. Wood. Surviving are three sons: Dr. R. L. Wood of Monroe; Leon L. Wood and H. R. Wood of West Monroe. A number of grandchildren also survive. A short funeral service will be conducted at the residence tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock with Rev. H. L. Driskell, pastor of the First Baptist church of West Monroe, officiating. Interment will be made in Wood's family cemetery, 17 miles west of this city near the Jonesboro highway. The services at the grave will take place at 11 o'clock. Pall bearers are to be: R. M. Browning, Dr. L. B. Newsom, J. A. Rainbolt, S.H. Humphries, H. A. McDonald and Fred Mitchell.

Son of Albert Jackson and Martha Elizabeth Dickerson Wood. Husband of Annie Tallulah Coon (married Ouachita Parish May 2, 1884) father of Florence, Robert, Leon and Harry. The Monroe News-Star Monday, August 1, 1910 Page 1, Column 4 Prominent Citizen Dead. D.D. Wood, one of the best-known residents of Ouachita parish, died Friday at his home in Ward 5, after a long illness. He was one of the most successful farmers in North Louisiana and left his family in comfortable circumstances. At the last election Mr. Wood was a candidate for sheriff. He has served as member of the Police Jury and of the school board. Mr. Wood left his wife and several children. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and of the Woodmen of the World. The funeral took place Saturday.
